What is eSIM personal hotspot?

eSIM is a small chip, pre-installed into the devices by the manufacturers. Embedded SIMs work like the physical SIM card and allow personal hotspot sharing. You can share your eSIM data with others via wifi. Your device turns into a wifi hotspot and shares data with others like smartphones, laptops, and tablets.

Reasons for Hotspot is not Working

Here are some possible reasons why your eSIM hotspot is not working.

1. Carrier Hotspot Restriction

Some providers restrict the hotspot feature with eSIM in specific countries or regions. It may be due to technical restrictions between eSIM and the carrier. To avoid this, confirm your current plan supports data sharing with eSIM.

2. Incorrect APN Settings

APN allows your device to connect to the internet via mobile data. The issue in APN settings can disturb your hotspot connectivity. You can manually input the APN settings to avoid hotspot issues.

  • Open your device Settings
  • Move to Mobile Network
  • And Access the Point Names

3. Network Settings issues

Switching different SIMs can corrupt the network settings in your device, which causes problems in personal hotspot connectivity. Updating the network settings can troubleshoot this issue. The settings include.

  • Open your device Settings
  • Scroll to General Management and to Reset
  • Now move to Reset Network Settings

4. Data Usage Limit

The network provider adds a data usage limit, once the data reaches the limit, your device does not allow to share data with the other devices. You can consult your carrier to confirm any data restriction on your eSIM.

Troubleshooting Tips for Hotspot Issues

Here are some tips that will help to troubleshoot your hotspot issues.

Device Compatability

Only the latest smart devices support eSIM. So make sure your device is eSIM compatible and supports the hotspot feature. You can check your device's eSIM compatibility from its settings.

Restart Your Device

Restarting your device can fix minor network issues. Turn it off and then on your device, it will update your eSIM connection and recover data sharing.

Reset Network Connection

Resetting the network helps find a better network for your hotspot. If your device has the dual SIM feature and supports physical SIM and eSIM at the same time, set physical SIM as a primary line. Check your hotspot connection, switch to the eSIM, and find out if the issue is resolved.
