When is Identity Verification Required?
In some countries, when you're getting ready to activate a new telecommunication service like an eSIM, there's a step you need to complete first. This step is called the Know Your Customer (KYC) process. It's a standard procedure required by law in these countries to ensure the safety and security of telecommunication services.
eKYC stands for electronic Know Your Customer. Unlike the traditional KYC, eKYC is completely paperless. During this process, we'll electronically verify your identity and address. How do you do this? Simply by uploading a document that confirms who you are. Not every eSIM purchase requires going through the eKYC process. We'll always let you know beforehand if it's necessary. So, before you buy an eSIM, check if there's a note about eKYC.
